Yolanda Ortega built Silver Cedar from personal experience — the experience of searching for a place truly worthy of someone she loved, and not finding it. That moment became a calling.
With a background in healthcare administration and senior care operations, she spent years learning what genuine, excellent care truly looks like — and more importantly, what it feels like. Silver Cedar is her answer.
A home built on the belief that every elder deserves beauty, purpose, and belonging — not just a bed and a care plan.
Silver Cedar Residences is not a facility — it is a home. Every care plan, every meal, every activity is guided by one belief: your loved one deserves to thrive, not just survive.
We chose to remain small — never more than 16 residents — so that our caregivers truly know each person: their morning routines, their favorite music, the stories they love to tell.
Every caregiver is chosen for clinical skill and genuine warmth. Your family becomes our family.
24/7 on-site care, emergency protocols, and transparent family communication — always.
Rich programming, beautiful spaces, and a community where laughter and purpose fill every day.
Families are never left out. We involve you in care planning, updates, and every milestone.
Located on a peaceful 2.24-acre property in McKinney, Texas, Silver Cedar Residences was designed from the ground up with seniors in mind — wide doorways, natural light, private rooms, and curated common spaces that feel residential, never institutional.
From the chef’s kitchen to the garden patio overlooking open countryside, every space invites connection, rest, and joy.
Every corner of Silver Cedar is designed to feel like home.
No two days are identical, but every day is purposeful. Our programming nurtures the whole person — socially, cognitively, physically, and emotionally..
Days begin gently — personalized wake times, assistance as needed, and a warm breakfast shared with staff who feel like family.
Gentle movement, chair yoga, walking groups, and physical therapy coordination — keeping residents active at every level of ability.
